matARiki for Tamariki - Art Project

Celebrate Matariki with Toi Tauranga Art Gallery, at the Tauranga City Library, by making your own hanging water animal.

Starting with a visit to Te Tuhi Mareikura Trust’s matARiki Sculpture trail for inspiration, you will then use water colour pencils, crayons, Posca pens, and metallic papers to bring your mahi toi to life. Maybe a sparkling snapper from Waitā’s salt water moana, or a long glistening tuna (eel) from the flowing awa of Waitī.

We are running two sessions:

- 10am–12pm for ages 5–8 years

- 1–3pm for 9–12 years

Maximum of 15 tamariki at each session. Don’t miss out on this awesome opportunity, we can’t wait to see you there!
