Miles Art Awards 2020
This bi-annual event and exhibition is an opportunity for artists residing in the Bay of Plenty to submit their most accomplished artworks for Tauranga’s premiere art award. The finalists work will be shown in a curated exhibition (14 March – 7 June 2020). This is the sixth installment of our biennial awards and exhibition at Tauranga Art Gallery.
The event is named after one of Tauranga Art Gallery’s original donors, Venetta Miles, who is remembered for her considerable foresight and generosity. The Miles Art Awards is generously supported by The Venetta Miles Trust and made possible also thanks to the Friends of Tauranga Art Gallery, Tauranga Mayor, The Incubator Creative Hub, and the Bay of Plenty Times.

Changes to selection process:
Entries must include up to 4 photographic images of the work. These images will go through a pre-judging selection panel to determine the final 40 works. Once the selected finalist works are in the Gallery the principal judge will then decide on the winners.
Only artworks selected as finalists for the exhibition will be delivered to the Gallery.

Selected Finalists notified:
3 February - 7 February 2020. All entrants will receive an email by 4pm on Friday 7th February 2020 to notify if they have been selected as a finalist.
Delivery of Selected Finalist Works:
Can only happen between 17 February – 21 February 2020. Deliveries must be between 10am – 3:30pm Monday to Friday only.
Delivery of works by courier or in person must arrive no later than: Friday 21 February 2020, 3:30pm
Courier deliveries must be addressed to:

We reserve the right to refuse any artworks that arrive outside the designated times or do not meet the eligibility criteria.

Return of Works:
Exhibited works to be collected at the end of the exhibition period from Tauranga Art Gallery on:
Thursday 11 June 2020, 12noon – 4pm or
Friday 12 June 2020, 10am – 12noon
Sold works can be collected by the purchaser (with proof of ID) or a designated courier paid for by the purchaser.
Unsold works can be collected by the artist or a designated courier paid for by the artist
