Jeanette Schäring will introduce and explain her exciting upcoming project for Tauranga Art Gallery Whose water Are You. Learn how you and your family can become part of the art project at Tauranga Art Gallery, and share your ideas about the importance of water.
Drawing on Schäring’s experience as a textile artist, participants will create a natural dye artwork from plant sources at her interactive colour table - a performative activity for all ages. All materials and afternoon tea is provided at this event.
Having exhibited around the world, Jeanette Schäring explores the role of water in our lives. For Whose Water Are You, Schäring will gather water samples collected by residents of the Bay of Plenty from various sources such as estuaries, streams, puddles or the home. She will then apply a biochemical process and over time the water will transform, revealing the source and contents in the water, and the influence of the surrounding environment. The collection and recording of participant’s stories about water will also form an insightful part of the project.less
